Student Success Center
In order to create a positive environment where all students can learn, Harney Middle School has implemented behavioral procedures and rules to encourage positive behaviors while decreasing problem behaviors. Just like academic standards, behavioral standards and expectations must be consistent across all teachers and all settings on campus and virtually.
Required Student ID Badges
On the first day of school, students will be given a copy of their Person Summary Report w/ Picture to keep on their person until badges are distributed from picture day. Students that do not have a photo displayed in Infinite Campus will take a photo with the librarian so their photo can be uploaded to their personal summary report. Students must wear an identification badge on Harney Middle School campus. Identification badges will be created and distributed on/after picture days (August 27-28, 2024).
Cell Phone Pouches
The primary purpose is to ensure a distraction-free and safe learning environment.
Each student’s personal cellular device will be held in a non-locking, signal-blocking pouch on each desk/table within classrooms and will be accessible in the event of an emergency.
- Students will place their personal cellular devices into a non-locking, signal-blocking pouch at the beginning of the instructional period or day. Students will be reminded by the educator to silence their personal cellular devices for safety purposes. It is best practice to place the personal cellular device in airplane mode before placing it in the pouch.
- The educator will instruct students where to place the non-locking, signal-blocking pouches for safety, such as on the student’s desk or in a designated area of the classroom.
What if there is an emergency situation?
- In an emergency or an evacuation drill, students will always have immediate access to their personal cellular devices as safety permits.
The use of student personal technology and communication devices, such as cellular devices, laptops, tablet computers, or other similar electronic devices, is permitted during the following:
- Scheduled nutrition or lunch periods
- School-sponsored activities at all District campuses
- Classroom periods with the approval of the school principal
- School bus transportation
